The mission of Arlington Children's Theatre is to embrace, enrich, educate and entertain children and their families, within the Boston area, through its commitment to a unique, quality, theatre program.

Established in 1991, Arlington Children's Theatre of Arlington, Massachusetts is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating positive theatrical experiences for children aged 4 through 18. ACT is an all-volunteer organization, made up of families who wish to have fun and work hard to bring theater to life. We hire theater professionals to teach our workshops and direct our shows. Each show relies on the participation of adult volunteers involved in every aspect of the production: lighting, costumes, make-up, set construction, set crew, etc.

Participation in an ACT production is open to any child, from any town, who is willing to work with the directors and fellow actors. No prior theatrical experience is required.

For announcements of shows, auditions, workshops and other activities of the ACT, please sign up for our e-mail mailing list.

Advertising and Sponsorship

Advertising in an ACT program, or sponsorship of a show or season, is an effective way to promote your business to families within the Boston area. By purchasing an ad or sponsorship you are also making a valuable contribution to the local community and helping to provide an affordable, unique and high quality theatre program for children ages 7–18. Contact Elizabeth Cutler at: ecutler@act.arlington.ma.us for more information or to confirm your ad or sponsorship.

Summer Season 2012

Summer is coming fast, and we are gearing up for another big summer season with three great musicals. What are you doing this summer?

Registration for these shows is open May 1–14 with auditions the following week.

Alice in Wonderland Jr.

Join Alice's madcap adventures in Wonderland as she chases the White Rabbit, races the Dodo Bird, gets tied up with the Tweedles, raps with a bubble-blowing Caterpillar, and beats the Queen of Hearts at her own game! Roles are plentiful, including three Cheshire Cats and dozens of other wonderfully wacky characters.

13

A grown-up story about growing up!

When his parents get divorced and he's forced to move from New York to a small town in Indiana, Evan Goldman just wants to make friends and survive the school year. Easier said than done.

The star quarterback is threatening to ruin his life and his only friend, Patrice, won't talk to him. The school freak sees an opportunity for blackmail and someone is spreading the nastiest rumors.

With an unforgettable rock score from Tony Award-winning composer Jason Robert Brown, 13 is a hilarious, high-energy musical for all ages about discovering that cool is where you find it, and sometimes where you least expect it.

Spring Awakening

Winner of 8 TONY Awards, including BEST MUSICAL, Spring Awakening celebrates the unforgettable journey from youth to adulthood with a power, poignancy, and passion that you will never forget.

Adapted from Frank Wedekind's 1891 expressionist play about the trials, tears, and exhilaration of the teen years, it has been hailed as the “Best Musical of the Year” by the New York Times, New York Post, Star Ledger, Journal News, New York Observer, and USA Today.

Offstage Opportunities

ACT offers many opportunities for kids of all ages to participate in the creation of each show in addition to or in place of acting. It takes all kinds of talents to bring a successful production to the stage. Contact us at: info@act.arlington.ma.us to learn more about being a part of creating costumes, sets, props, run crew or ushering.
